Cradle Cincinnati Opens Application for Third Queens Village Learning Cohort

**This application is now closed.**

Cradle Cincinnati and Queens Village are excited to invite maternal and infant health leaders across the country to apply for the third Queens Village cohort.

In Cincinnati, we’ve worked hard to put a diverse network of Black women at the lead when it comes to infant mortality reduction. Our Queens Village initiative is at the heart of this work. Nationally, Black women are 2.5 times more likely to experience infant loss than white women. At its foundation, Queens Village centers Black women’s voices in order to shift racial disparities in birth outcomes as well as the conditions that drive inequities in maternal and infant health.

In May of 2021, in partnership with Optum Health and the Ohio Department of Medicaid, we launched the inaugural Queens Village Learning Cohort. Today, Queens Village has grown to thirteen chapters, with nine chapters in Ohio (Cincinnati, Toledo, Canton, Columbus, Youngstown, Cleveland, Dayton, Akron, Butler County) as well as chapters in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kansas City, Missouri; and Fresno, California.

As we continue to expand, we invite organizations across the country to join the movement by applying for the 2023 Queens Village Learning Cohort.

The Queens Village Learning Cohort brings together powerful Black women and thought leaders from like-minded organizations to learn from the founding team, peers and cohort alumni and build Queens Villages in their communities to improve Black infant mortality from the ground up. This cohort will take place over the course of a year, starting in September 2023 and culminating with a national summit in June 2024. Established cohorts are invited to renew their chapter membership annually.

Membership includes:

  • Monthly virtual trainings, community building, individual coaching, fieldwork and self-directed planning

  • Access to tools and strategies to establish their own Black women-led community advisory boards, build their villages, become advocates, fundraise for the work, tell their story and grow support

  • The opportunity to connect with peers, share best practices and innovative strategies happening in their communities and celebrate the power of their collective work

In addition, cohort members will be eligible to apply for funding support from Cradle Cincinnati to grow their villages.

Learn more about the Queens Village Learning Cohort here and register for our Queens Village 2023 Cohort Q&A on July 18, 10am.

Applications are due August 8th at bit.ly/qvcohortapplication23.
