By Your Side at Every Step: A Community Resource Guide for Moms-to-Be & New Moms

Community Health Workers

Community health workers walk alongside women during pregnancy and their baby’s first year of life, assisting with doctor appointments, transportation, baby essentials and more.

Cradle Cincinnati Connections’s team of community health workers help women and their families navigate and choose services in their community that best meet their immediate needs before, during and after pregnancy. The Cincinnati Health Department community health worker team facilitates access to quality health and social services during the pregnancy and post-partum period. Healthy Moms & Babes is Ohio’s Black Infant Vitality Program that helps to reduce the number of low-birth-weight babies, infant deaths, and sickness within the ethnic communities of Hamilton County. Their certified community health workers conduct regularly scheduled home visits, educating parents on prenatal and postpartum care, along with information/education on toddler health and care through age one.  

In addition to home visits, we operate a Van Program that offers outreach and services directly in the community. Mercy Health’s team of certified community health workers conduct monthly home visits and help remove obstacles to a healthy pregnancy and birth, while providing education, advocacy and support. Doulas

Doulas are trained professionals who provide educational, non-clinical emotional, physical and informational support to pregnant people and their families during pregnancy, childbirth and after. Doulas help clients feel informed, empowered and cared for every step of the way.

Adrienne’s Love Women’s Postpartum provides full-spectrum support services and handcrafted personal care products designed to nurture, empower, and uplift birthing people throughout their reproductive journey. Cherished Hearts provides prenatal, labor and postpartum support with a family-centered approach that ensures moms and their loved ones are actively involved in the decision-making process throughout pregnancy and the birth journey. Services include depend on mom’s needs and include prenatal visit, virtual support, guidance on labor and delivery, side-by-side support, newborn and mom care, light cleaning, meal prep and more. Me & She Doula’s birth and postpartum doula services wrap mothers in a cocoon of knowledge, support and connection through pregnancy and postpartum. Nyni Inc. provides physical, emotional, partner education and support support to increase the chance of a successful birth outcome and postpartum experience. Mental Health Services

Blue Skyy Therapeutic Services, LLC is a Black-Owned business offering professional mental health services including individual, children/adolescent, couples and family therapy. Get connected by visiting their website here.

Moving Beyond Depression is a 15-week program that provides in-home, clinic-based, or telehealth therapy to mothers who are experiencing mental health difficulties with symptoms of depression (major depressive disorder, postpartum depression or mood disorders, etc.). At this time, families can only be referred through Cincinnati Children’s Hopple Street Neighborhood Health Center or Burnet Pediatric Primary Care (PPC) Clinic by a psychologist, pediatrician, or social worker.

Serenity Therapy Services’s Motherhood & Mental Health Initiative provides resources and support for women of color who are mothers, mothers to be, or women considering motherhood. Their clinicians work to create personalized treatment plans to meet specific needs of individuals. Mental Wellness Groups

Queens Village Postpartum Series is an eight-week virtual postpartum group for Black postpartum mothers led by a local doula and midwife. Together, moms are welcomed into a safe and nurturing space to share, heal and grow. Participants receive a self-care kit and can earn an incentive for attending six out of eight sessions and completing the program survey. Queens Village Wellness Journey is a four-week series open to all Black women of child-bearing age who live in Hamilton County. Home Visitors

Home visitors are trained professionals who provide in-home support, education and resources to families from pregnancy through early childhood in order to promote healthy development, positive parenting and overall family well-being.

Every Child Succeeds offers free home visiting services for pregnant moms and children under 18 months in Hamilton County. Their program supports healthy pregnancies and early childhood development through regular home visits with trained professionals.
