Creating an environment of love: Northside Health Center's transformation

Over the course of several months, Cradle Cincinnati partners came together to make Northside Health Center a sanctuary for families that need quality care. Northside Health Center, one of eight health centers run by the Cincinnati Health Department, provides health services to low-income families in Cincinnati. With this transformation, we wanted to create a more welcoming environment for patients – especially moms and babies.Northside Before 2Northside After 7

Nearly 44% of women on Medicaid in Hamilton County do not receive adequate prenatal care, putting them at a higher risk for preterm birth and infant death. Creating welcoming environments for care has shown to increase patient engagement.

With the help of our partners, Northside Health Center received new lobby furniture; flooring and welcome desks that enhance patient privacy; new carpeting in staff offices; new paint in every room; and custom-made art, murals and signs that make everyone feel loved.“Landor is always looking for ways to use design to create change in our local community. We were honored to partner on the Northside Health Center environment project, and we’re proud of the outcome. We hope the space empowers and uplifts those who use it and the inspiring people who work there every day.” - Mara Proctor, Senior Client Manager at LandorNorthside After 4Northside After 2
