Price Hill is a great neighborhood; together, we can make it even better.

The health of every baby, every mother, and every resident in Price Hill is affected by our neighborhood’s environment, opportunities, and experiences. Best Babies Zone (BBZ) believes that holistic neighborhood improvements – addressing education, health, business, and more – can strengthen our community’s health.

That’s why we are launching mini-grant opportunities of up to $2,000 – to encourage resident-led improvement initiatives. We are looking to fund projects that will provide meaningful and lasting change in Price Hill. All projects must take place in Price Hill and focus on one of the following areas: 1) early childhood and adult learning, 2) physical and mental health, 3) community building, or 4) economic development.

Proposal Eligibility: Funding is intended for resident-led, volunteer groups, which often find fundraising a challenge. 510(c)3 organizations are not eligible, but can serve as a fiscal agent or partner. No more than two applications may be submitted by any individual community group. Grants are available for the following types of projects and activities:

Community Enhancement: To assist and encourage neighborhood organizations to improve public spaces (streetscapes, parks, playgrounds, community gardens)

Leadership and Capacity Building: To improve the capacity of organizations in addressing issues, improving conditions, and enhancing quality of life in Price Hill

Economic Development: To provide financial assistance for local business development

Applications are due by noon on Friday, June 27, 2014. A copy of the application may be delivered to Attn: Chellie McLellan, Financial Opportunity Center, 2918 Price Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio. Email or electronic submissions are encouraged.

The Best Babies Zone (BBZ) Initiative is an innovative, multi-sector approach to reducing infant mortality and racial disparities in birth outcomes and improving birth and health outcomes by mobilizing communities to address the social determinants of health. The BBZ vision is that all babies are born healthy, in communities that enable them to thrive and reach their full potential. Locally, BBZ is working within the Price Hill neighborhood.
